"Avoid...
                    the......
                                      light...."

Story Description:
On August 21st, 2024, the world ended. After weeks of warning from the local church about an upcoming "radiant rapture" coming to take us, it really came. The locals are always talking about some end of the world event, how could I expect this one to be true? However, it wasn't what I would have expected. This was a rapture from our own lights.

Anyone caught under a bright enough manmade light, such as a streetlight, completely vanished when nobody was looking. Only 3 days later, every city I've stopped in has fell entirely silent...

Although the sun seems safe, I've been carefully avoiding every lamp and streetlight I see as I head north. I... want to visit my mom one last time, see if she is alright during all of this. She hasn't picked up the phone, but she rarely does anyways for me.

I know I probably won't come back after this, but I don't plan to...

Description:
Fiat Lux is a short, PSX inspired horror game, about a rapture stemming from manmade light sources. Explore the local area, find clues and notes left behind before the events of the game, and discover the fate of your mother and the protagonist...

Dev Note:
Thank you for stopping to check out my game! I still feel I am very new at this, so every kind comment and bit of feedback I receive means the world to me! I wasn't satisfied with my last project, so although I took it down I've been having a great time working on this since November! Once again, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy :D

Changelog:
-v1.01: Slightly adjusted hand UI opacity and added an additional brighter brightness setting. If anyone would like more brightness options please let me know! Thank you!

Very good game but only two problems too dark and slow text. I had too increase the brightness and cut parts between the text to make it faster.

I apologize! I plan to patch and make it brighter soon! Thank you for the feedback and thank you sincerely for playing! :>

Directionless grand environment with poor execution and very dark screen, probably the darkest I've seen.

Before going over negatives, I must say that the game had excellent atmosphere. The design of the environment and the entire forest level is impressive. That's the only reason why I kept playing the game, even thou it was poorly executed in other areas.

Sadly, there are lots of negatives, starting with the screen brightness. Did you ever test the game before publishing? I am surprised how people didn't say anything about it and maybe it is my screen and my monitor, but I did try this out on other monitors and even tried to connect it to TV via HDMI, but it was just tragically dark, dark game. The "L" key didn't help at all, it was still very, very dark and it instantly put me off the game. Now, the sound design - the forest ambience loops too many times and even thou I tried to not pay attention, with the dark screen problem right up my nose, it was a big distraction and there was no other sound effect which would get me back to the game.
In addition, the interaction was annoyingly underwhelming, because I was trying to distance myself enough so that the hand icon would appear and then get close to interact with the objects and environment, it just took the soul out of me and not to mention it was not enjoyable at all.

In the end, I think this game has 100% potential to be eerie, atmospheric, mysterious and have a great gameplay, but like I said, it is poorly executed and comes of as dull, very dark and immersion breaking. I wish the game gets updated and at least fixes the brightness issue.

Best of luck with this one.
Edit: I can add that the radio voice over was good.
And FYI, I played all of your previous games. You can check the first game I played "HeartRot", which I loved. I recommended your previous games to my fellow YouTube content creators and I was very excited to play this one. Understand that this criticism is valid, because it showcases an individual experience with your game. Again, wish all the best to you and hope you make a good one next time.

Its understandable! Thanks for giving the game a shot, I'll make a patch to brighten things up soon I think! I really appreciate feedback, no matter what :>

Incredible piece of art! However, it has some issues: the text progresses really slowly.

Hmm I agree, I think I'll patch and speed it up soon, especially for the intro lol

Very cool concept and execution. I really enjoyed exploring the world, the cutscenes were very stylish. I'm not gonna lie, ending 3 made every hair on my body stand up.

Thank you for playing! I'm glad I was able to give you a little spook lol
